Each child is unique and has his own milestones of child development. The milestones of child development is different for each child as each child grows at its own speed and at 3 years of age, they  are all capable of performing the same feats. It is important to know the milestones of child development for your child so that you can support him and help him grow according to his own pace.

Milestones of child development – 1 month old.

At this stage of milestones of child development, the child can lifts his head on his tummy. Most babies can do this at this milestones of child development. They can react to sound and stare at faces too. At 2 months old, a baby can gurgles and coos. He can follow an object across the room, see  his hands and may hold his head up for a short period of time. At this milestone of child development, most of them can smile and laugh and hold head up to 45-degree but not for too long. A few more advance babies can even hold their heads steady and can do mini push-up ie lifting their heads and shoulders when lying on their tummies.

At this milestones of child development, babies can recognise scent, voice  and image or face. They can squeals and coos and may even blow bubbles. Some may even roll over from tummy to the back, hold theirs hands together and turn towards the direction of the sound.

At age of 4 months, a baby can bear their body weight on legs, respond to you when you talk to him. He can even grasp a toy. Those who are not able to roll over when they are 3 months old should be able to do it now. Some may even start to learn how to talk by imitating sound like “dada” or “mama”. But these are those few who are more advance in their milestones of child development.

Milestones of child development – 5 months old.

Your baby at this stage is able to play with his hands and feet. He may find his hands and feet fascinating. He may be able to distinguish between dark colours. Showing him contrasting dark and bright colours cards may stimulate his mind. Some may even recognise their own name at this stage and roll over in both directions. Some may even sit momentarily without support.

Milestones of child development – 6 months old.

Most babies should be able to roll over in both directions at this stage if they have not been be able to do so when they are 5 months old. They may be ready to try solid food and sit without support.

Milestones of child development – 7 months old.

They would have mastered the skills of sitting without support now and drag objects toward themselves. You may also notice some emerging skills such as start to crawl, jabber and experience stranger anxiety.

Milestones of child development – 8 months old.

At this stage of development, they are able to say “mama” or “dada” even though not specific. They are able to pass object from hand to hand. Some may start to learn to stand while holding onto objects.

Milestones of child development – 9 months old.

Now they are quite steady in standing firm while holding onto objects. They may jabber and combines syllables but may not make sense of what they are trying to say. They may be able to cruise along while holding on to the furniture or drink from a sippy cup.

Milestones of child development – 10 months old.

A baby at this milestones of child development is able to wave goodbye and crawls well with belly above the ground. More advance babies may be able to stand alone for a couple of seconds or put objects into a container.

Milestones of child development – 11 months old.

At 11 months old, he is able to differentiate between “dada” and “mama” and call correctly and enjoys playing peek-a-boo. He may be able to understand “No” and simple instructions.

Milestones of child development – 12 months old.

At 12 months old, the final milestones of child development for the first year of his life, he may be able to imitate activities and may gesture what he wants. He may be able to walk a few steps by now and say a complete one word beside “mama” and “dada” and may even starts to learn how to scribble.
